Bespoke Lake District Mountain Guide, Tailored to You
Hire a private mountain guide in the Lake District and the whole day is built around you: the route, the pace and what you want to learn. Tick off a classic ridge like Striding Edge or Sharp Edge, climb your first multi-pitch route, or build the skills to head out on your own.
Every day is led by Jack Oliver, a qualified Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor (MCI) and member of Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team. Days run across the Lake District and North Wales, with the venue chosen to suit your objective and the conditions on the day.

Why Choose Private Guiding?
A private day is completely focused on you. There’s no fixed course plan, so the time goes on the skills, routes and objectives that matter most to you, at a pace that suits you.
It’s the best option if you have a specific route in mind, want to build confidence in a supportive setting, or want a memorable day in the fells with a partner, friend or small group.
What A Private Day Can Include
Rock Climbing Coaching: Work on movement, rope systems, protection placement, belay technique and overall climbing confidence on real rock.
Mountaineering & Mountain Routes: Tackle classic mountain routes, ridges and summits with the support of an experienced guide.
Scrambling & Exposed Terrain: Build confidence on graded scrambles, exposed ridges and mountain terrain with clear guidance throughout the day.
Skills Development: Focus on navigation, mountain judgement, route choice, decision-making and movement over technical ground.
Bespoke Objectives: Bring your own goal, and we will build the day around it wherever possible.
Guided Hill Walks: Let me take the hassle out of a guided walking day and give you an amazing experience in the fells.
