Guided Grade 2 & 3 Scrambles in the Lake District

Guided Scrambling on the UK's Most Iconic Mountain Routes

Suitable for

  • Experienced hill walkers
  • Regular scramblers
  • Climbers looking to develop mountain movement skills
  • Individuals preparing for alpine objectives
  • Anyone seeking more adventurous mountain terrain

Steeper Ridges and Roped Scrambling

Grade 2 and 3 scrambles take you onto steeper, more exposed ground where route finding matters and a rope is often used for the hardest sections. Lake District classics such as Pinnacle Ridge on St Sunday Crag give the feel of a big mountain day on technical terrain.

These days run at a 1:2 ratio, so you get close coaching on movement, exposure and when a rope is needed. New to scrambling? Start with Grade 1 scrambles or the 2-day scrambling skills course. For a specific objective, book private guiding.

Why Progress to Grade 2 & 3 Scrambles?

Grade 2 and Grade 3 scrambles provide a real sense of mountain adventure.

These routes often follow spectacular ridges, towers and mountain features that would be inaccessible to most walkers. They demand greater concentration and movement skills while rewarding you with some of the finest mountain days available in the UK.

For many people, these routes act as a stepping stone towards mountaineering, alpine climbing and more advanced scrambling objectives.
